ADVANCED ISLAMIC STUDIES PROGRAMME

A Structured Journey in Islamic Knowledge

Our Advanced Islamic Studies Programme is designed for students who wish to develop a structured and progressive understanding of the Islamic sciences. The programme takes students from foundational knowledge towards more advanced study of the Qur'an, Hadith, Fiqh, Aqeedah, Arabic and other essential areas of Islamic learning.

The course is designed to promote understanding, reflection and consistent learning. Students progress step by step, building upon the knowledge gained at each stage.

STAGE 1: FOUNDATION IN ISLAMIC STUDIES

The foundation stage is designed for students who are beginning their journey into structured Islamic learning.

Students will develop an introduction to the Arabic language while studying essential areas of Islamic knowledge.

Topics may include:

Introduction to Arabic vocabulary

Arabic reading and comprehension

Basic Arabic grammar

Basic Arabic morphology

Essential Islamic beliefs

Basic Fiqh and daily Islamic rulings

Introduction to Hadith

Essential Du'as and Islamic etiquette

Introduction to the life of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ

Qur'an recitation and Tajweed

The aim of this stage is to provide students with a strong foundation upon which they can build further knowledge.

STAGE 2: DEVELOPING KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING

During this stage, students will build upon their foundational knowledge and begin studying the Islamic sciences in greater depth.

Topics may include:

Further development in Arabic

Arabic grammar and sentence structure

Arabic morphology

Expanded Fiqh studies

Selected Hadith and their meanings

Introduction to Tafsir

Aqeedah and Islamic theology

Seerah and Islamic history

Understanding and studying Islamic texts

Students will begin developing the skills required to engage more confidently with Arabic and traditional Islamic literature.

STAGE 3: INTERMEDIATE ISLAMIC STUDIES

At the intermediate level, students begin exploring the Islamic sciences in greater detail.

Topics which may be studied but not limited to:

Advanced Arabic language studies

Intermediate Fiqh

Principles of Islamic Jurisprudence

Hadith studies

Selected collections of Hadith

Tafsir of selected Surahs and verses

Islamic history

Aqeedah

Further Arabic grammar and morphology

This stage is intended to help students develop a deeper understanding of how Islamic knowledge is studied and applied.

STAGE 4: ADVANCED ISLAMIC STUDIES

The advanced stage provides students with the opportunity to study more detailed areas of the traditional Islamic sciences.

Subjects may include:

Advanced Fiqh

Advanced Tafsir

Detailed Hadith studies

Principles of Hadith

Advanced Arabic

Islamic legal principles

Classical Islamic texts

Islamic logic and reasoning

Contemporary issues in the light of Islamic principles

Students will be encouraged to develop a deeper and more analytical understanding of the Islamic sciences while continuing to study under qualified teachers.

QUR'AN AND TAJWEED

Throughout the programme, students will continue developing their relationship with the Holy Qur'an.

This may include:

Correct Qur'an recitation

Application of Tajweed rules

Improvement of Arabic pronunciation

Understanding selected verses

Introduction to Tafsir

Memorisation of selected Surahs

Reflection upon the meanings and teachings of the Qur'an

ARABIC LANGUAGE DEVELOPMENT

Arabic is an important part of advanced Islamic learning and is developed progressively throughout the programme.

Students may study:

Arabic vocabulary

Reading and comprehension

Arabic grammar

Nahw

Arabic morphology

Sarf

Sentence construction

Understanding classical Arabic texts

The aim is to help students gradually develop the ability to understand Islamic texts with greater confidence.

HADITH STUDIES

Students will study the sayings, actions and teachings of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ.

The programme may include:

Introduction to Hadith

Selected Hadith

Understanding the meaning and context of Hadith

Practical lessons from the Sunnah

Introduction to the principles used by scholars when studying Hadith

More advanced students may progress to studying recognised classical Hadith collections.

FIQH AND ISLAMIC LAW

Students will learn the principles and practical rulings relating to Islamic worship and daily life.

Topics may include:

Purification

Salah

Fasting

Zakah

Hajj

Marriage and family matters

Business and financial dealings

Islamic manners and responsibilities

Students may also be introduced to the principles through which Islamic jurists understand and derive rulings.

AQEEDAH AND ISLAMIC BELIEFS

Students will develop a structured understanding of the fundamental beliefs of Islam.

Topics may include:

Belief in Allah

The Prophets and Messengers

The Angels

The Revealed Books

The Day of Judgement

Divine Decree

The foundations of Islamic belief

The study of Aqeedah aims to strengthen the student's understanding of faith and provide a sound foundation for further Islamic learning.

TAFSIR AND UNDERSTANDING THE QUR'AN

Students will study the meanings and explanations of selected passages from the Holy Qur'an.

The course may include:

Understanding the context of revelation

The meanings of selected verses

Lessons and guidance from the Qur'an

The relationship between the Qur'an and Hadith

Introduction to recognised methods of Qur'anic interpretation

SEERAH AND ISLAMIC HISTORY

Students will study the life, character and example of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ.

Topics may include:

The early life of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ

The Makkan period

The migration to Madinah

Important events during the Prophetic mission

The character and leadership of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ

Lessons from the lives of the Companions

Important periods in Islamic history
